Liz Healy, a long-time Park Cities resident and graduate of SMU, created HireAStang to bridge the gap between the residents of Dallas seeking help with everyday needs and local college students looking to fill spare time, earn extra money and gain responsibility.
Liz moved to Dallas with her family in 1996 after growing up in Corpus Christi and San Antonio, Texas. She attended McCulloch Intermediate School, Highland Park Middle School and graduated from Highland Park High School in 2003. While at HP, she was a member of the volleyball, golf and basketball teams, but was truly at home on stage in more than a dozen plays and musicals.
From her first days at SMU, Liz became involved in a variety of activities before discovering her true passion: Student Senate. She served in many roles; including first-year senator and student body vice president. As a junior, Liz became the youngest female to ever serve as SMU’s student body president. She went on to represent the students on SMU’s Board of Trustees, a true honor and an experience she will never forget.
GLAMOUR magazine named Liz one of their 2006 Top 10 College Women, recognizing her for her responsiveness and leadership in creating “3 Weeks for Relief,” which raised more than $50,000 for Hurricane Katrina relief efforts. During her senior year, she was crowned the 2006 SMU Homecoming Queen, named the Outstanding Senior Woman and received a prestigious “M” Award, SMU’s highest honor. Liz also served on the chapter council of her sorority, Kappa Kappa Gamma. She graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree from SMU in 2007.
Liz continued her studies at Vanderbilt University, where she earned a Master of Education degree in Organizational Leadership in 2009. This unique program at Vanderbilt’s acclaimed Peabody College allowed her to focus on organizational theory and development, institutional advancement, coaching and non-profit management.
She has a passion for her community and remains highly involved in Dallas. Liz currently serves as the Executive Vice President of the Society of Young Philanthropists, as a Member of the Advisory Board for Executives In Action and on the Board of Directors for Dallas Summer Musicals Associate Producers. She is also an active member of the SMU Young Alumni Board’s Class Ambassadors program.
Liz is proud to call Dallas home and is excited to have the opportunity to unite the two communities she cares about most: her hometown and her Alma Mater. She also offers independent leadership and fund raising consulting and hopes to pursue her graduate certificate in Executive and Professional Coaching from the University of Texas at Dallas in 2010.
